FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

How long does therapy take?

Therapy is a personalized experience and treatment length is dependent upon your commitment and motivation.  For some clients, they will achieve their goals within the first few sessions, other clients will take longer. Please call to discuss your personal goals.

What should I expect for the first session?

In the first session we will get to know one another and discuss your goals. My approach is very welcoming and relaxed, and together we can develop a plan of treatment that best suits your needs.

Therapy is "confidential", what does that mean?

The content and meaning of what you share in session is protected by law under confidentiality.  I am legally bound to protect your identity and keep all documents and their contents secure and private.

However, in some situations, I am required to share your information without written consent.  Below are three common reasons why confidentiality would need to be broken:

  • If there is suspected child, dependent adult, or elder abuse (emotional, physical, mental, or neglect)

  • If there is a reasonable suspicion that you are likely to harm yourself or others

  • If a court of law issues a subpoena for your medical records
